Afraid your money might disappear into a black hole? Sent, and then… silence. No confirmation, no way to know where it is. When a transfer crosses borders, that silence shouldn’t be part of the deal. International payments. Nothing left in the dark. Few paintings have unsettled and fascinated in equal measure like Kazimir Malevich’s Black […]
Looking Back: Highlights from the Mauritian Electronic Payment Platforms Conference
It’s been almost a month since the Mauritian Electronic Payment Platforms Conference, but the energy and insights from that day still feel fresh.
Hosted at the Intercontinental Mauritius, the event brought together nearly 150 professionals from the financial and business sectors — from regulators and fintech providers to management companies and legal experts. For almost eight hours, participants engaged in meaningful discussions on the future of electronic payment systems in Mauritius, addressing topics such as innovation, regulatory frameworks, cybersecurity, and the island’s growing role as a regional fintech hub.
Speakers included Ms. Renu Audit (Financial Services Commission), Jaya Doomun-Dookun (Economic Development Board), Benazeer Saïdoo (Mauritius Africa FinTech Hub), Ashveen Gopee (PwC Legal Mauritius), Taras Kushnirenko (MAGMA Finance), Bashier Adam and Brandon Topham (SAB&T International Financial Consulting), as well as Nitish Caullychurn, one of the key executives at MAGMA Finance, which also acted as a main organizer of the event.
Beyond the panels, the day was filled with networking over coffee breaks and lunch — a chance for professionals to connect, share ideas, and explore collaboration opportunities. For MAGMA, these moments are more than just formal exchanges; they are steps toward strengthening Mauritius’s position as a financial and fintech hub, where the public and private sectors work hand in hand to build a strong, innovative ecosystem.
We’re excited to share some glimpses from the conference — the focused expressions of our guests during the sessions speak for themselves, reflecting the importance of the topics discussed and the shared commitment to developing Mauritius’s financial landscape. 📸

In a pre-summit discussion, industry leaders […]
