MAGMA participated in the Rencontres d’Affaires et d’Investissements France–Maurice, organised by EDB Mauritius, MEDEF International and Business Mauritius, where leaders from government, academia, and industry discussed the future of innovation, digital infrastructure, and cross-border collaboration. Representing MAGMA, Director Nitish Caullychurn joined the forum to explore opportunities for driving growth, technology adoption, and regional connectivity.

The discussions highlighted Mauritius’ ambition to become a regional hub for data centres and disaster recovery, leveraging its Tier 1 cybersecurity standing and advanced digital infrastructure. National initiatives such as an AI-powered learning tutor for students, launching in 2027, underline the country’s focus on AI upskilling and preparing its workforce for the future.

Participants also raised topics including cyber resilience, AI governance, reducing administrative bottlenecks to accelerate investments, and developing emerging industries such as DNA sequencing. Mauritius’ strong connectivity, with 80% 5G coverage and early 5.5G deployment, alongside progress on instant cross-border payment systems with SADC and COMESA, were highlighted as key enablers for regional growth.

The forum reinforced Mauritius’ positioning as more than a tourist destination — a strategic digital and financial hub connecting Africa, Asia, and Europe. MAGMA is proud to support this vision by providing secure, seamless, and future-ready international payment solutions across the region.
